Looking For A Christmas Gift For Your Nursing Student?
Elijah Q. Wright | December 31, 2010Are you looking for a gift for a nursing student? Is it your husband or your wife? Is it your son or your daughter? Is it one of your parents? Is it one of your grandchildren? Regardless of who your nursing student actually is…you might find yourself struggling to come up with a good gift idea.
This holiday season, try skipping the gift cards that end up expired at the bottom of your nursing student’s “to do” pile. Avoid the large ticket items that the salesperson assures you they will love, but that your nursing student has never asked for or mentioned. Don’t throw cash at your loved ones either. It’s so much more meaningful if you actually pick the gift out yourself; that’s just classic etiquette.
So what Holiday presents should you present to your nursing student?
You want to follow the basic rules of purchasing presents. You want to give your loved ones something that they can use. You want to give them something that they need and want. You want to give them something that they may not realize that they wanted or that they have been unable to obtain for whatever reason.
What do we suggest? Yes, we do have a suggestion.
Every nursing student should be thinking about where they’re going to get a job when their training is complete; if the thought hasn’t crossed their mind…they’re not serious. Every nursing student should be doing everything they can to prepare themselves for their eventual entrance into the job market. For nursing students one of the most effective actions that can be taken is to obtain their CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
Having their CNA means two things for nursing students:
1. With their additional training they immediately become a more valuable commodity to those looking to hire within their chosen industry.
2. Nursing students who are attempting to get a foot in the door at a nearby hospital or care facility are much more likely to get a job in the industry as a CNA. And they can continue their nursing studies while they build a work history.
So if you really care about your nursing student…what will you get them for the holiday? I think the answer is obvious at this point in the argument, but I’ll finish it off just in case. You’ll find them a local CNA training center and you’ll register them. And you can be sure that you have given a thoughtful gift! Happy Holidays!
