Lindsay Barnes | December 11, 2009

Some people seem like they were just born to play sports. They appear to have a natural ability in using things like tennis or badminton rackets and baseball bats, they seem to always hit their target or goal easily, they seem faster, and they look like they have been blessed with an incredible physique that seemed to have been crafted effortlessly. They were the ones who were always picked first for the team back in school, the ones who are living an incredibly active lifestyle today, joining marathons and the like, and the ones who look like they are the ones lording it over the gym and running miles and miles on the treadmill without their lungs exploding.

With such people around, you might become a little bit discouraged about your own athletic abilities, especially if you are part of a sporting team, like maybe a local basketball or volleyball team, and think you have a long way to go before being one of its stand-out players. But feeling helpless and defeated won’t get you anywhere. Instead you should focus on honing the skills you need and studying the principles each game in order to improve your skills. As a basketball or a volleyball player, you have a lot of skills to develop, one of them being the ability to jump higher.

Jumping higher is a valuable skill in these two sports. In volleyball, with the ball being able to sail into the air way above everyone’s head, seemingly out of reach, you can hit it back if you can get high up into the air. In basketball, the basket is situated high above the court, and not everyone can make a slam dunk. When you learn how to jump higher, you can make these winning shots. Learning to jump higher, of course, is not just for you to become an excellent athlete. Being a high jumper entails work, and this work involves a lot of workouts that can help you become faster, stronger, and fitter, in turn making you healthier.

You can learn to jump higher using a variety of methods which you can learn from your fitness trainer or coach; all you have to do is indicate that you want your training regimen modified in order to make your body do higher jumps. You can also look up videos and resources online that can help you learn how to jump higher.

Remember that learning to jump higher takes dedication and work. So don’t be discouraged if results are taking a while. Just keep at it and soon, you’ll notice a big difference in your game.

Ben J. Mihajlov | December 7, 2009

Learning how to jump higher benefits all athletes, especially those in basketball, volleyball, and track. Most people are not born with the jumping trait, but it is something you can definitely learn. Jumping higher can be beneficial on several different levels, all you have to do is practice consistently proper exercises.

You have to start by actually building the strength. There are hundreds of different ways to do this, but when the increase in jumping abilities will be evident. All of your workouts should include a little strenuous training that works all of the muscles in the lower part of your body.

There are many ways to go about doing it like running, jogging, and biking, but those aren’t the only ways to work the body. We do suggest that you start by adding a few squats, lunges, and calf raises to your program. However, in the beginning stages you may want to do something in the comfort of your own home to get you started. Try sitting in a seated position and pop up with your legs. You will strengthen them like crazy the more you do it.

We do suggest you go out and find someone that can help you. It doesn’t have to be a difficult transition, but it’s a good idea to have some help. If you can get someone, then you’ll be able to stay free of injury and build the leg strength you desire without harm. If you can’t find anyone, then make sure your exercises are fit for a solo session.

The first thing you need look for is a way to approach your jumping higher exercises. Even though you could get results doing one muscle at a time, you’ll be better off taking a multi-faceted approach. In the end you will find yourself more agile.

You also need to make sure you seek the right material that explains the form. Yes, it will help increase your jumping abilities. Seriously, if you spend the time to simply fix your form, you’ll be able to jump anywhere from 2 to 4 inches higher.

Even though the exercising is important, it’s not the only thing that will help you jump higher. A good diet is definitely something that will compensate your exercising. The nutrients that go into your body can bring on massive gains when you actually do the exercises. Plus it’s a great way to take care of yourself.

The program you choose should also teach you about the right and wrong way to perform exercises. That is part of the reason why you decided to go with a training program, so ensure that technique is included in your training.

Another important factor is understanding plyometrics. This is your jump training and if you don’t know what it is you won’t get the same results. So make sure the program you choose explain everything about it.

A good program will also include resistance training that will work those muscles, as explained earlier. You have to increase muscle to increase your jump.

Lastly, you have to understand your muscles and how they work. This involves understanding flexibility and learning how to train them. This will help you to understand the best way to use your muscles and work your muscles to get a good vertical jump.

When it’s all said and done, you can find yourself a well rounded program if you take the time to understand it all. Our goal is to help you gain more inches regarding your vertical leaping abilities. In order to do this you’ll have to train hard and right. If you don’t, you’ll end up straining your muscles and causing an injury.

About The Jump Manual

Lindsay Barnes | November 20, 2009

Jumping high is not a skill that very many people have. For the most part, it is athletes who have the capacity to do so, whether or not they need it for the sport they play or not. But if you want to be able to jump high, you have to find the right kind of exercise program that will help you be able to do so. There are many different types of workouts you can do on your own that can get you jumping as high as you aim to, from squats to jumping exercises to plyometrics. Of course, it’s not always easy to follow your own workout plans, especially if you don’t have a trainer or coach to work with; you’re going to need quite a lot of discipline for that.

So why not try an established jump workout program that you can easily follow? One of the best, tried-and-tested program is the Jump Manual. Judging from its name alone, the Jump Manual is geared towards helping you increase the height of your jump. The program was developed by Jacob Hiller, who has been involved in vertical jump training for more than eight years already. Advocates of the Jump Manual program have already reported incredible results in the height of their jump, and credits it with helping them jump higher in a short amount of time.

The Jump Manual doesn’t recommend only one type of workout, but makes sure that you undergo a wide variety of workouts that not only transforms you into a high jumper, but also makes sure that your body is properly conditioned, making you stronger and more capable of pulling off explosive movements.

Expect to see the complete package in the Jump Manual. This isn’t a mere collection of workouts, but also contains stretching exercises, a nutritional guide, and a training schedule to follow. Of course, you’re not just supposed to do everything all on your own. The best athletes develop their skills and strengths because they have the help of a skilled trainer, and you have one too in the person of Jacob Hiller. Along with your Jump Manual, you have the choice to undergo one-on-one coaching with Jacob to make your workouts much more effective.

Using the Jump Manual definitely takes a lot of dedication and work, so you have to be seriously determined to improve your vertical jump and increase your leg power if you will undergo the program. Every aspect of the manual is crucial, so make sure you go through it step by step and not just skip ahead to the workouts.

A plyometrics program will help you run faster, jump higher, hit harder, and throw farther. Get started on a plyometric training program.

How You Can Jump Higher

Lindsay Barnes |

An athlete needs a great many skills in order to become an overwhelming force in whichever sport he or she engages in: excellent hand-eye coordination, speed, and strength are among them. Another incredible skill that athletes need to have is the ability to jump higher. Everyone, even people who don’t play any sports, has toyed with the idea of being able to jump higher, mainly because it’s pretty interesting and impressive. There’s just something so awe-inspiring about seeing a person be able to jump up and soar higher than everyone else around. Just imagine the amazement you felt every time you watched a professional basketball player leap up and sink a winning shot almost effortlessly. Didn’t that make you wish you can jump higher?

You might have tried, but weren’t exactly successful in your efforts. Not everyone can easily hit on the right formula for jumping higher on their first go. Being a high jumper takes a lot of training and discipline. You need to really work on your lower body strength and improve the way your muscles function. This is because the strength of your jumps is dependent on your legs, which act as the spring that pulls you down and launches you upward as forcefully as possible, thereby determining the height of your jump.

So instead of just working on making high jumps, you need to develop your lower body and leg strength in order to achieve the desired height of your jumps. An important type of exercise you can do is plyometrics. This consists of a series of workouts that let your muscles contract and expand rapidly, which is what happens when you start out still or slow and immediately work to jump. Plyometrics isn’t advisable for everyone, least of all people who are out of shape, because this really requires you to be properly conditioned.

To improve the strength of your thighs and legs, you should also do workouts that will condition them to become more able to function powerfully in a short amount of time. Squats are probably the best exercise that will help you achieve higher jumps. There is a type of squat performed especially for high jumps. You can start by crouching down with one foot in front of the other, then springing up as high as you can, landing into a crouch once more, with your feet positioned the same way.

Try adding variety to this by jumping with your right foot in front for one set, then the left foot in front for the next. You can also add variety by using ankle weights for the jumps, jumping over an object, and modifying your speed and the number of jumps you make.
