Chiropractic Treatment Offers Effective, Drug-Free Pain Relief

Stephen Daniels | January 18, 2010

Sufferers from chronic pain may think they must resort to prescription medications to make life bearable. While drugs do offer pain relief, they serve only to counteract the symptom while ignoring the real problem. Fortunately, chiropractic treatment offers drug-free relief for many conditions while treating the underlying issues that are causing the pain.

The undesirable side effects and possible addiction resulting from drug-based pain treatment makes many people search for alternatives. If taken too frequently or in too high a dose, even over-the-counter pills can cause damage to the liver or kidneys. Using medication to block out the ache of an injury or other problem may actually cause you to injure yourself further because you cannot feel the strain you are causing. In addition, a continued course of medication can lose its efficacy over time. This leaves the patient with few options for relief. For many people, choosing chiropractic care instead of drugs can be a highly effective, safer option to relieve pain on a short and long term basis.

The practice of correctly aligning the spinal vertebrae by manual adjustment is called chiropractic manipulation. This method has been used for centuries to help with a myriad of different kinds of medical issues and pain. Its earliest documented use is in ancient Egypt and Greece. Modern chiropractors undergo special training and state licensing. Many chiropractic facilities utilize advanced technology such as x-rays for quick determination of vertebral alignment and other issues. Insurance providers cover many of these procedures.

Chiropractic treatment is based on the idea that the body is very good at regulating and healing itself. Any disruption in the flow of nerve impulses, however, impedes the body’s ability to detect and address problems. These disruptions can be caused by spinal misalignment, muscle tightness, or slipped or herniated discs. A spinal manipulation aims to improve or correct the subluxation, or alignment, of vertebral joints, thus restoring the flow of impulses. This type of adjustment often provides immediate relief of pain without drugs. It can also decrease stress and muscle tension while increasing muscle strength and range of motion.

Recent developments in chiropractic treatment have made spinal manipulation more effective, more comfortable and even safer than ever before. Depending on the diagnosis, a practitioner may choose to manually adjust the vertebral column as well as hip and shoulder joints. Treatments may involve manipulations done with the aid of tables, weights, and other instruments. Active Release Techniques use a type of massage therapy to treat issues with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Modern chiropractors may employ hundreds of different methods.

Often, modern chiropractic care involves much more than just spinal manipulation. An increasing number of practitioners provide an array of holistic, drug-free treatments that work together to promote good health and not only relieve pain, but prevent it in the future. Massage therapy, acupuncture, foot orthotics, and flexion-distraction techniques to treat problems with discs between vertebrae are some of the more popular treatments chiropractors may offer.

Furthermore, many chiropractors can help you to discover the underlying problems that cause your chronic pain. They often recommend corrective exercises that can be performed at home to counteract these problems and prevent pain in the future. Lifestyle and nutritional advice may be provided as well to help enhance your body’s ability to heal itself.

Before you refill that pain medicine prescription, you might want to consider the benefits of chiropractic treatment. Chiropractors can work with you to discover the source of your pain. They offer relief in the short term as well as solutions in the long term to prevent pain, improving your quality of life as well as your overall health.

Neck Pain Relief: Massage Chairs Administer Deep Tissue Massage

Jeffrey James | January 11, 2010

Certain pain conditions such as tension, constant pain or even chronic pain cause considerable discomfort. To help relieve some of these conditions, a massage to penetrate more deeply was needed. This massage technique is now called deep tissue massage. When muscles are used, they can breakdown in their flexibility and range of motion because fibers start to split. To repair the flexibility, pressure and stroking was found to bring back their natural elasticity. Deep tissue massage penetrates beyond the superficial muscles and gets to the bone.

After performing exercise, you may notice your muscles become stiffer. Exercise breaks down the muscle tissue making the tendons shorter and more fibrous. That is why it is good to stretch muscles before and after exercise. While stretching elongates the whole muscle, massage targets smaller regions for restoration. A deep tissue massage seeks to elongate and stretch the tendons to increase their elasticity and flexibility.

If you are a team member of a professional sports franchise, then your routinely obtain deep tissue massage. This is known to help healing form injuries and to increase range of motion of muscles. The heavy workouts cause muscles to breakdown and become tight. Loosening the muscles regains their former flexibility. However, not all of us have access to a massage therapist.

More studies have been performed on massage therapy and its benefits. What is common to all the studies is the need to obtain massages on a regular frequency. Your muscles are being worked out on a continuous basis, therefore, the relief of such activity must be on a continuous basis. Restoring flexibility and the elasticity of your muscles requires frequent deep tissue massage. This just makes sense. The challenge is how to get deep tissue massages frequently. Fortunately, massage chairs provide daily pain relief in the comfort and privacy of home.

If you are interested in massage chairs that provide deep tissue massages. Two of the best massage chair recliners come from Panasonic and Omega Massage. These leaders integrate excellent technology to provide deep tissue relief. Not only can you get deep tissue massage, but it can be complimented with lower body stretches, full body heat and even synchronized music and massage functions. The technology available is outstanding and the effectiveness of relief is there to boot.

Massage chair companies like Panasonic and Omega Massage develop massage chairs to help relieve certain pain conditions. There are many ailments that plagued us. Simple things like using a mouse over time can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. Although using a mouse is small movements, these small repetitive movements cause considerable pain and discomfort. The Omega Montage Premier Massage chair has an air compression massage just for the hands and forearm. This provides relief be helping to restore flexibility in the muscles.

Deep tissue is effective for persons performing regular exercise. It has been shown to increase range of motion and flexibility. You may want to check with your medical advisor to make sure that you can benefit from deep tissue massage. You also may experience some discomfort from a deep tissue massage. Deep tissue massage uses pressure and stroking to relieve muscles to the core. If you have not received one before, then your muscles may ache at first when getting this massage.

To get the full benefit of any massage treatment, it must be performed at a regular, sustained interval. If you exercise regularly, then you should receive massage regularly. Each action like exercise, requires an equal an opposite counteraction like massage therapy. Life is about balance. We know the balance is always changing, so too must the counter balances. Obtaining pain relief is a counter balance to the source of the pain. The healing process is a natural reversal of the damaging process. Look to integrate massage therapy into your routine with a massage chair recliner. They are actually very cost effective in the long run.

Treatment Of Fibromyalgia- The Constant Challenge To Deal With Fibromyalgia Pain

Shaun Marsh | January 8, 2010

Combining the alternative and conventional treatment is the most effective approach utilized on the treatment for fibromyalgia. The interplay of medications, stress reduction techniques and proper nutrition is a great way to reduce the symptoms produced by the condition.

This solution sounds like it is so complicated but the disease does not have a single approach of treatment. It is then a necessity that the solution would be complex for a very complicated medical condition. This method approaches the problem in different angles so that the results would be promising and encouraging. However, the exact solution to the problem will be discovered when the nature of the disease process is understood.

This particular goal can only be reached through extensive studies and research. There are already many research facilities that are conducting studies to reach this goal. The approach would only depend on the severity of the disease and the frequency of the symptoms for each individual. Your physician will be the one who will recommend various regimens that are designed to fit your needs. Basically, it will involve a trial and error but they are effective in more ways than one.

The focus of the treatment process is to alleviate the symptoms and relief from the pain inflicted by the disorder. Naturally, your physician will follow through the regimen that would enable you to have the best quality of life possible. Along with the treatment regimen, you also have to enhance the quality of your sleep. You need to rest adequately because it can make the whole situation worst if you do not rest.

There are evidences of relationship between the condition and the estrogen levels and menopause in many studies. But, further studies need to be done to prove it. Therefore, it would be great if future studies would focus on this evidence so that we will understand why women are the ones more affected.

Exercise, relaxation techniques, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic procedures and medications are just some of the alternative entities that are merged in one. However, you have to remember that there is really no cure for this particular condition.

3 Treatment Techniques To Seek Relief from Fibromyalgia Pain

Shaun Marsh | December 30, 2009

Are you looking for fibromyalgia pain relief?

If you are, here are 3 simple ways to seek relief from fibromyalgia. But before I discuss these treatment techniques, I want to point out the importance of self-belief and hope.

Often fibromyalgia patients get depressed because of the excruciating pain, fibromyalgia inflicts on their lives. It is very important for family members and friends to empathize with their pain and help them cope with fibromyalgia.

Now, let’s take a look at 3 fairly easy to follow techniques to seek relief from fibromyalgia pain.

1. Exercise: Though exercise would be the last thing on earth, a fibromyalgia patient wants to do, it is actually helpful in treating fibromyalgia pain. Also by not exercising, you run the risk of putting on weight which leads to a host of other medical problems. You can take up very simple activities like walking, stretching, jogging and swimming.

2. Physical Therapy: Physical therapy is very helpful in relieving fibromyalgia fatigue and pain. Combining your exercise routine with physical therapy can help you feel a lot better. Make sure that you consult with a licensed physical therapist to help you shed light on proper lifestyle changes.

3. Acupuncture: It is an ancient Chinese practice that has been followed for thousands of years. Basically it is a process of sticking needles in your skin at certain points. Like physical therapy, it is important that acupuncture is done by a certified acupuncturist.

At the end of the day, remember that there is no one solution for treating fibromyalgia. Focus on making small incremental changes to your lifestyle and never lose the belief that there is nothing you can do to improve your lifestyle. Though saying this is a lot easier than actually following, optimism and hope makes a huge difference to how you feel.

Fibromyalgia Treatments- How to Seek Relief from Fibromyalgia Pain

Shaun Marsh |

We all know that fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder. The most common symptom is the widespread pain of the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Easy fatigability and focal tenderness are also common features of the disease. This is the most common cause of excruciating pain when you are affected with fibromyalgia.

About two percent of the total population is affected with this disorder. It tends to occur more in women than in men and it increases with age. The disorder is inclined to occur after a physical or emotion trauma but some cases do not have any triggering factor.

It can sometimes be utterly frustrating to treat fibromyalgia and most of the times it can become complicated. More often than not, the results are inconsistent. Nonetheless, there is innovative form of treatment that is made possible by participating in research. The results of the researches may not show some encouragement but it could lead medicine to a path forward to a goal of discovering the treatment that work.

The focus of the treatment is always on the presence of the pain. It involves increasing the pain tolerance of the individual and includes the aggressive multidisciplinary interventions. The absence of the symptoms of FM is not indicator of success in treatment.

Success means the patient has already achieved tolerance to the presence of the symptoms. Living the quality of life is the most important indicator of treatment success. It is natural that sometimes the disorder does not respond to the treatment regimen. But, the fact is that the patients are not really that hard to treat.

During the treatment process, some of the patients may have significant relief of their symptoms. Some others will only have the relief in moderation while others will only report a little of no relief at all. This is just the nature of treatment.

Understanding The Treatment Fibromyalgia In Pregnancy

Shaun Marsh |

The exact reason why fibromyalgia exists is not yet known. Both alleviation of symptoms and focusing on the quality of life are the focus of the treatment process for most patients. Prescription medicine, alternative medicine, work outs and changes in the lifestyle are combined to form one powerful treatment regimen for fibromyalgia patients.

Then again, the approach is considered a trial and error process. One combination of the treatment regimen is limited to a single person only. In addition, the method would have to be altered so that it can benefit another patient. It is essential that medical professionals have to dedicate themselves to devising a plan in order to make a plan work for each patient.

However, the treatment regimens are basically limited due to the fact that the researchers and the medical professionals working on it do not have extensive background regarding the disease process. There has been no research conducted on the treatment that emerged to be working for most. Above all these, nobody has the knowledge about the disease process during pregnancy.

The insufficient knowledge about the course of disease poses great danger to the mother and child. There are studies that are focused on this but most of them have conflicting evidence about the disease activity on pregnancy. This should prod the research facilities to further their studies in order to discover the treatment and exact background of the disease process during pregnancy.

The importance of such research is needed so that there will not come a time where we have to choose between the mother and child. There is one thing that is already known and it is the fact that the pregnancy alone can increase the symptoms of fibromyalgia. However, this needs to be delved deeper.

It is important that we know that that the most challenging phase in pregnancy is the third trimester since the symptoms tend to be increasing in frequency. This indicates that the progression of the disease is going.
