Anxiety Diagnosis in Children

Noel Galliani | May 20, 2011

A bit of anxiety is a normal aspect of development, as in the following examples.

Most toddlers become apprehensive when separated from their mother, especially in unfamiliar surroundings. Shy kids may initially react to new situations with worry or withdrawal. Fears of injury and death are more common amongst older children. Older kids and adolescents often become nervous when giving a speech in front of the classroom.

Such difficulties should not be seen as proof of a disorder. However, if manifestations of anxiety develop into so exaggerated that they enormously affect functioning or trigger severe misery, an nervousness disorder must be considered.

In some unspecified time in the future throughout childhood, about 10 to 15 % of children experience an anxiousness dysfunction (eg, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, separation anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, particular phobia, panic disorder, acute and posttraumatic stress problems).

Anxious parents tend to have anxious youngsters; having such parents could make youngsters’s issues worse than they otherwise might be. Even regular kids have difficulty remaining calm and composed in the presence of an anxious mum or dad, and kids who’re genetically predisposed to anxiety have even larger difficulty. In as many as 30% of circumstances, treating the dad and mom’ nervousness along side the child’s anxiousness is useful

Perhaps the most common manifestation is school refusal. “School refusal” has largely supplanted the term “school phobia.” Actual worry of school is exceedingly rare. Most kids who refuse to go to school in all probability have separation nervousness, social phobia, panic, or a combination. Some have a selected phobia. The likelihood that the kid is being bullied in school also have to be considered.

Some youngsters complain instantly about their anxiousness, describing it in terms of worries-eg, “I am anxious that I will never see you again” (separation anxiousness) or “I am anxious the kids will laugh at me” (social phobia). However, most children couch their discomfort in terms of somatic complaints: “I can’t go to school because I have a stomachache.” These kids are often telling the truth because an upset stomach, nausea, and headaches often develop in kids with anxiety.

Can You Achieve Maximum Arm Toning While Addicted To Sugar?

Katherine Crawford M.S. | January 28, 2010

Sugar addiction exists, the research proves this. And it’s in your best interest to avoid it at all costs if you want to maximize your arm toning. Beating ANY addiction is no walk in the park, but you can do it.

What evidence is there that sugar addiction is real? Well, for one, doctors use sugar as a powerful analgesic (painkiller) when performing routine medical procedures on infants. Also, when given high levels of sugar, rodents show the same types of brain alterations that drug addiction induces. Finally, drugs used to combat drug addictions (i.e., naxolone) can eliminate sugar addictions.

Now you need to be brutally honest with yourself. Are you addicted to sugar and do you need to have it on a regular basis? Do you get in a bad mood if you don’t have it? Most importantly, are you coming up with elaborate reasons as to why you are NOT addicted as you read this? A yes to any of the above questions indicates an addiction.

The main issue with sugar, is that it prevents your body from secreting arm fat burning hormones. And without said hormones, your arms will never get toned. So without further ado, here are 4 things you can start doing today to kick that addiction out the window:

1. Start using sugar substitutes. Although they won’t give you an energy high, sugar substitutes will definitely appease your sweet tooth. And they don’t taste like they used to. Remember that strange aftertaste diet sodas used to have? Stevia, an all natural herbal substitute, is my top choice.

2. Yerba mate loose leaf tea. This is the most powerful all-natural appetite suppressant I have ever found. The key is to make sure you experiment with small doses first and then gradually increase. And be patient because unlike coffee, it takes about an hour to take effect. Yerba mate is a powerful tool for cancelling out your sugar cravings. As an added bonus, it will increase your metabolism which will accelerate arm toning.

3. Working out with weights. Weight lifting is the best way to increase your appetite. And increasing your appetite is a great way to eat healthy. The increase is so large that your palate recalibrates to liking foods that you would otherwise find bland. You will no longer need that hyper-taste that sugar gives foods.

4. Emotional healing. You need to address the emotional side of the addiction if you want long term success. The best method I have found for doing this is cognitive therapy. “Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy” by David Burns M.D. is your best bet for self-administering this powerful method. Mind you, this is the number one recommended book by therapists.

We enter this world with a sweet tooth for sugar. And live in this world with the food industry trying to push sugar onto us from every angle. Thus, our environment is a breeding ground for sugar addictions. And if arm toning is your goal, sugar is enemy number 1.

One more thing: it’s vital that you take action on this information sooner rather than later. After all, rapid action ensures the quickest results.

Are You Having A Hard Time Staying Motivated When Losing Arm Fat?

Katherine Crawford M.S. | January 27, 2010

Most of us women have sufficient knowledge about exercise and nutrition to get a certain level of arm tone. Yet most of us fail in this arena.

Because staying focused on one goal for extended periods of time is not easy. You can learn all you want about exercise and diet, but if you can’t apply the information day in and day out, you will never reach your goal.

If it were easy to change our behaviors, we would all be ultra successful. Unfortunately, behavioral change is no easy undertaking. Whenever we establish a new habit, we encounter a lot of initial resistance. Eventually, however, the resistance fades and things become easier. Getting over this hump is what prevents most women from reaching their sexy arm goals.

So without further ado, here are 4 mental hacks you can use today to help get rid of arm fat:

1. Don’t obsess over results, focus on the process. Too many women micromanage every inch of the way. If you are measuring yourself on a daily basis, get ready for some major disappointments. Such obsessive behavior will grind away all your motivation. A more sustainable approach is to focus on the sticking to the process as a whole.

2. Persist with patience over time. I know I’m beating a dead horse here, but too many women come to me every day asking for a quick fix. And while there are accelerated ways of getting toned arms, nothing is both rapid and easy. There is hard work involved when getting fast results. And if you start off with unrealistic expectations, you are setting yourself up for major disappointment and subsequent abandonment.

3. Don’t assume negative outcomes. Always test your assumptions now matter how ridiculous they may be. If you assume the negative, you are most likely going to procrastinate. If you assume that eating healthy to get toned arms is a pain, then you are probably not going to eat healthy unless something drastic happens. Instead of dwelling on the negative, why don’t you test run a week of clean eating and see how it goes?

4. Compliment yourself for EVERYTHING. I know this sounds childish, but you have to train your mind to produce an ever flowing stream of positive thoughts. Without enormous quantities of positivity, it will be very hard for you to reach your goal. The most successful people on the planet have the ability to produce optimism on the spot.

The key to losing arm fat and keeping it off is long term motivation. If you can get yourself to stay motivated for extended periods of time, sexy arm stardom is likely to be yours. So make sure you apply these tips today and not tomorrow, because tomorrow usually never comes!

And remember that taking action is more important than digesting new information. Because if you don’t take action you’ll simply forget the information.

Tested Strategies To Control Your Anger

John Bryan | January 25, 2010

Anger is one of those emotions every one experiences. It could really be something just to merely relieve frustration over some situation or uncommon circumstance. Or it could be full fledged rage that you experience. It is actually that extreme with anger that you really have to be able to recognize. Because if you don’t recognize when your anger is getting out of control it could lead to more damage. So in this article we are going to examine some of the proven and practical strategies that would help you control your anger.

The first thing you need to try to do if you experience feelings of anger is to try and calm down. That is of course, absolutely and usually easier said then done. But of course you definitely have to do it. The first thing you surely need to try to do is to simply use some relaxation techniques like breathing. By simply relaxing yourself, you can help make the emotion of anger to gradually subside.

To control your thinking is actually the next thing you can try to do if you feel your anger is getting out of control. When a person is angry, it is usually brought about by what is going on in a person’s head. Usually these thoughts are certainly irrational from the anger which in turn makes a person to go out of control. So you really have to immediately try to control your flow of thinking and calm your thoughts.

The very next thing that you can try to do especially when you are angry is to try and understand what is causing the anger. Usually we get angry only when there is a particular situation that we are in and that we feel we can’t solve. This is a very natural reaction to a clear frustration. So in order to successfully fight that, we should not focus on a solution but instead focus on facing the problem.

Finally a quick way to calm down when angry is to change your environment. A lot of times by just changing the scenery we can really calm our emotions down.

So these are some excellent techniques that you can now use in order to fight against any uncontrolled anger you feel. You can quickly overcome those emotions if you really do them.

Anger should not control you, so call our anger management counseling. Family problems can turn emotional so get help with this family counselor San Diego.

The Shortest Lesson in Dream Interpretation

Okan Anter | January 23, 2010

Lets start by what dreams are not… They are not images from another world; they are not messages from the future; they are not coming from another dimension; even if you see a terrible dream where you die or someone you love dies, that doesn’t mean that this is going to happen. Dreams can be scary but they are not to be feared.

The next important truth about dreams is that no one and I mean no one can say “This is what your dream means” and be absolutely correct. Science does not know “Meanings of Dreams,” like it knows “Gravity.” We do have some good theories but nothing can be proven about them.

I am going to share with you two of my recent dreams to give you a good sense of how dreams are interpreted. But please keep in mind this is how I interpret them and I have been doing this for over 30 years. This is how my dreams work and how most of the people I interpret for works. There are different and good theories mine is mostly Gestalt based. And if you like you can Google that and get into it. But this is not necessary to learn how to interpret your dreams.

First a bit of a back ground; I have been having a great concern about my financial situation lately and I am ignoring it. I am focusing on other areas of my life but this one area I am ignoring and I know I am ignoring it and I am worrying about it at the same time.

In the first dream I am trying to park a car on the street between two cars. It is a small space but I have the car in there and I am being very careful not to hit the car in front of me… I edge up stop before touching the car and I put the car in reverse and without paying much attention bump the car behind me and then come a bit forward again… I get out of the car and check the front… all is well there but when I check the back I notice that I have climbed over the hood of the car behind me… I say to my self. ” I should have paid more attention.”

I the second dream I am laying on my chest in the pool and holding my breath. I let my self sink to the bottom of the pool. As I am going down, I think I should may be come up, then I say to my self “Well I will push of once I hit the bottom.” I hit the bottom but I cannot push off and I panic and wake up.

In both dreams I have concerns; in the car parking dream I am paying attention to the front of the car and not the back. The front of the car represents other parts of my life and the back of the car represents the financial situation I am worried about and not paying too much attention to. And the back of the car, in the dream, is ruined. In the case of the swimming pool, I am not starting to come up the moment I have a concern about “coming up to the surface,” but rather I decide to wait until I hit the bottom. This is clearly what I am doing with my financial situation waiting until I hit bottom.

So… you get the idea. Dreams are like that and notice one other thing; I am the best person who can interpret my dream because I am the one who knows my life situations. In counseling when interpretations are done, the counselor asks a lot of questions to the individual about their life in an attempt to see where the dream fits.

You can learn to interpret your dreams, it is not difficult but you have to get the idea and start practicing. You can learn how at www.freedreaminterpretationonline.com.

Diagnosis of Autism

Andreaze Tomasz |

Anyone with autism? Trying to get a diagnosis; if your doctor refused to even look at you having autism, and just said, you have an acute anxiety and should move on …. would you accept it or go elsewhere for a diagnosis? Thanks for answers, can someone tell me how long it might take to diagnose Asperger’s with a private psychiatrist?

From what you saying, your symptoms do not resemble autism or Asperger’s to me. I do not really know why would you want a diagnosis SPECIFICATION, where most people (of any type) with problems go to doctors and then, the doctors determine what the patients should or should not be diagnosed with.

Anyway, if you really have Asperger’s, you will have many of the following symptoms: – Difficulties of the non-verbal communication, gestures, tone of voice, posture, facial expressions – The stuttering and hesitating / difficulty with small talk – Logical View / objective of all, difficulty seeing how things come across another point (s) of view – Intense (or obsessive) interest fascination with a narrow / specific topic – Knowledge / interest in a specific area, without regard to its own context – The gap / Deep / up-in-the-clouds far from thinking – Delay in communication (ie take more time to talk / socialize / etc) – Hyper-(ie sensitivity can not tolerate loud noise or lights) – The ritual routines / obsessive-compulsive / can not cope with not knowing what to expect – The bizarre behavior / habits / thinking / – Excessive dreaming / in a world of your own

There are probably some other symptoms I missed, but anxiety / depression is often a result of having social difficulties. People with such symptoms fail to fit in – they often experience bullying and rejection and therefore can go through anger, depression, bitterness, social anxiety, and the like.

Bottom line is, with the symptoms you have: social anxiety / depression, you are far better off to address these issues as they are. Being diagnosed with something like autism has much bigger (major) disadvantages.

This is a biggest , together with over 30,000 info items resource for all special needs, together with autism, down syndrome and other disabilities. The evidence of social anxiety or depression are a lot easier to address than being diagnosed with autism.

Fighting Depression In Some Practical Ways

John Bryan | January 22, 2010

Depression is one of those emotions that is absolutely hard to just get a handle on. Even harder is figuring out when the depression is dangerous. Because there are times that people can get so depressed they are a danger to themselves. So to determine if you are at that point you should follow these steps. Because depression isn’t something you should let go on hoping it goes away.

First of all, you absolutely need to find out what is really causing that depression within you. Is it something that happened? Just recently, did you just lose a loved one? Determining what may really have caused the depression will definitely help you to determine if it is natural. Because depression will come sometimes due to circumstances, but you just really have to let it play out.

If you really determine that it is really going beyond being a natural emotion then you can definitely seek help with a depression counselor. A good counselor can absolutely help you to address any significant issues you may have. They can do it in a nice safe environment and determine what is causing the depression. When they find the cause they will have the experience to know what steps to take to help you.

Sometimes the counselor may determine that it may be because of a chemical imbalance in your body. At that particular point, they may assign some drugs that can absolutely help combat that reaction. But the main point is to realize that finding out what is wrong may only happen with counseling.

People sometimes are definitely afraid of the actual cost of counseling. But there are low cost counseling options available to people. To really tell the truth though, that is not actually the most important thing. Your health and safety should be more important then costs. Understanding this definitely crucial point is very significant.

So there you have some things you can do if you find yourself depressed. Most importantly, you definitely have to take immediate action and try to cure it before it gets worse.

Depression is something that requires a good depression counselor. There you will find help for your depression from this San Diego family therapist.

The Drug Intervention We Dread The Most

David Lee |

As a drug and alcohol intervention specialist, occasionally I am asked if an intervention ever becomes dangerous? Although, generally speaking, we do the best to provide a very caring life-changing event, there is one primary drug that creates more chaos than others. A Heroin addict is generally receptive. An alcoholic, a bit critical but will hear us out. The crack or cocaine abuser, is looking for a quick fix for his problems and thinks that it exists for recovery as well. The methamphetamine abuser, however, is a complete roll of the dice. In almost every case of violence an danger, methamphetamine has been the drug of choice in the client.

Methamphetamine (also referred to as ice, glass, speed, crystal or tina) originated during World War II and was used by American, Japanese and German troops for its ability to grant the user almost unlimited energy. Bomber pilots could travel further without sleep. The tanks of the German Blitzkrieg seemed unrelenting as soldiers amped up on amphetamines could overwhelm an enemy who had become tired and fatigued. After World War II, amphetamine become relatively obscure until the 1960′s. By the 1970′s the bike gangs of Southern California controlled the distribution of methamphetamine.

For those who abuse methamphetamine, the initial attraction is intense. Clarity of thought, increased periods without the need for sleep, feelings of power and control are common. But if that was how things remained, the Methamphetamine problem wouldn’t be quite so serious, nor would it be dreaded by most interventionists.

Prolonged abuse of methamphetamine creates periods of temporary neuroses, or mild personality or mood disorders. Manifestations of bipolar (Manic Depression) begin to appear in the form of major dramatic mood swings. Obsessive compulsive disorders begin to kick in as the user finds himself cleaning the house repeatedly, or picking at his skin or tearing apart electronic devices to “make them better”.

In later stages of methamphetamine use, psychoses can and usually do occur. Once this stage is reached, paranoid thinking, homicidal and suicidal ideation are common. Hearing things that aren’t there, voices in the head, seeing things that aren’t real are just some of the manifestations. In worst cases this becomes permanent.

An intervention is a carefully guided, very structured event that is designed to allow someone abusing drugs or alcohol to slowly understand the effects of their behaviors on themselves and others and allow them the opportunity to willingly accept help and enter treatment. However, with methamphetamine, that rarely happens. In the best of cases you are dealing with an acutely sensitive potentially threatening individual, in the worst of cases you are dealing with someone who believes that you are involved in the conspiracy that he has created in his mind. You are now the danger and the cause of all his misfortune. You are now the threat. This is why we often dread the intervention on the client who abuses methamphetamine.

If you are interested about aninterventionist. Stop by David Lee’s site where you can find out all about meth interventions and other types and what they can do for you or your loved one.

How To Reduce Flabby Arms Without Exercise

Katherine Crawford M.S. | January 18, 2010

You can tone flabby arms without doing any exercise. You may not believe me, but it’s true.

It is possible to tone your arms without exercising. Now don’t get me wrong, exercise is great for you and it will accelerate progress. Nonetheless, there are alternatives to spending all day in the gym.

The trick is to put your body into spontaneous fat loss mode. When you enter spontaneous fat loss, you unconsciously eat less food.

And without further delay, here are 4 tips for entering the spontaneous fat loss zone so that you can tone flabby arms:

1. Keep healthy food close and accessible. And bad food as far away as possible to limit access. One study showed that people eat three hundred percent more candy when it’s close and accessible. So always ensure that the bad stuff is hidden away.

2. Use smaller plates, bowls and utensils. Our perception can override our “feel full” signal. In fact, one study showed that when using larger bowls and spoons, people unconsciously eat 50% more ice cream! This happens because the scoops of ice cream look smaller next to the bigger bowls and spoons. Use smaller eating devices and the arm fat will fall off.

3. Use tall and thin glassware when drinking calorie-laden liquids. People will poor up to 30% more liquid when using short glasses versus tall glasses. You see, a volume of liquid looks much smaller in a short/wide glass versus a tall/thin glass.

4. Use the same plate when at a buffet. If your table is constantly cleared at a buffet, you’ll eat 25% more. This happens because as the plates are taken away you forget how much you have eaten. In other words, you lose your visual point of reference.

Spontaneous fat loss is the key to sexy arm stardom with minimal effort. Learning how to tone flabby arms doesn’t have to be a long and drawn out battle. At times, the easiest approach is the best approach.

And remember to take action on this information today, not tomorrow. The women who take action the fastest are the ones who succeed.

Get free and valuable information on the best toning movement flabby arm exercises immediately by going to Katherine Crawford’s M.S. website Sleeveless in 7. And figure out how to get toned and lean arms in no time by visiting her blog about arm toning right now!
